Every CD released carries with it a Community based Campaign that serves people in need.
If you would like more info to start up your own campaign or if you would like to be a part of these campaigns, we would love to have your help.
… I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty, you gave me drink,
…ill and you cared for me.
Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for Me.
Jesus, Matt. 25:35,40
THE CAMPAIGNS
THE LITTLE THINGS
We are excited to introduce the new campaign that goes along with The LITTLE Things CD!
We are inviting people to do small random acts of kindness daily. We are also encourging people to post what they are doing through the guestbook or by direct email to info@thedoveexperience.com
We are out to change the world one random act of kindness at a time:)
THE PARK PROJECT- The Park Project was an effort to help get hot soup and sandwiches to the homeless in SF during the winter months. This campaign was a biweekly Saturday evening effort where a couple of friends and I would help deliver to 5 parks across the bay area where people were in setting up for a nights shelter.
THE FOOD DRIVE CAMPAIGN- This campaign started as an effort to help support the food banks that were not getting enough supply. Selected neighborhoods were left flyers asking for a donation at their front door and one Saturday morning per month me and a couple people would drive by pick up the food and then deliver the can food to food banks.
THE “GOT THIRST” CAMPAIGN- In summer month’s temperatures rose into the 100’s in the East and South Bay, volunteers and I would chill up water the night before and on weekends Saturdays and Sundays, at midday sun, deliver the cold water to homeless around the entire Bay Area. We started carrying around cold waters with cold packs in the car and hand them out at stop signs where people were holding signs in the hot sun. We created labels that said “GOT THIRST? GET GOD”
This program was well received and volunteers decided to push the program with others and now the program is being worked in of various communities. Because of social media site blogs and the pictures that were posted, the campaign was picked up all the way out in Atlanta Georgia and continues to grow yearly.
COATS FOR KIDS- In coordination with Salvation Army and News 10 Sacramento, we jumped on this very cool cause collecting gently used coats from everyone and everywhere. I started this campaign at my gigs offering a free CD download for every coat that was brought in to a gig. I also challenged other indie artists to do the same and make a battle of the coats. The first year I took in about 8-10 coats, by the 3rd year I had collected so many coats I had to get a truck to get them to Sacramento! Over 80 coats were delivered that winter season.
THE DOVE EXPERIENCE STREET TEAMS - THE MUSIC OUTREACH CAMPAIGNS (May 2, 2006)
Here is the first post for the NEW CAMPAIGN and it is so so so cute I have to tell you that I was so happy!
A mom wrote in this story about her son we will call "Johnnie"
Johnnie is a fan of the dove experience. He saw me perform at a school function for disable kids. He liked me so much he made his mom take him to a gig to get my CD. His favorite song is JUST BE NICE. So his mom sends an occasional msg to me.
If you remember last year I was looking for snails but temps took a dive and no snails were to be found. The event went on w/ a sub but I thought you should know that as it referes to the story.
So...mom writes in and says this....Ms Dove, I want you to know that Johnnie still loves your music; he makes me play it in the car when we go shopping and run errands and he sings along with it happily. He keeps informed about your projects as he likes me to read him your fan club emails...(she goes on)
But I have to share this with you. It was raining pretty hard over the past couple weeks and Johnnie would always stop at this one point near the egde where the driveway and curb meet and bend down put something in his pocket and come inside. I did not pay too much attention as he is always putting things in his pockets, boys do that. So this went on for the past week and yesterday I went to start spring cleaning, and inside his closet was a nearly full jar of snails. The jar had holes on the top and branches and leaves on the bottom like a sour gummie worm, a piece of cookie and a bottle cap. I immediately went to Johnnie and he said, I am saving those for EVE cause she needed snails. The mom released the snails and then wrote me this email asking me to send an email thanking and explaining not to save any more snails...
We both got a big kick out that:)
Here is the best part about it though. Sometimes we ask for something and it seems to take forever, or not in sight. We change our desires or even forget what we ask for but people do listen, and people do want to help. Even though Johnnie is just a little guy; he remembered! That is amazing! So if you are in need or wanting or needing and you feel like you are not being heard, just remember, there could be a Johnnie thinking about you and trying to help without you even knowing!
Have a great day!
THE LITTLE THINGS FIRST POST!!! (Apr 10, 2010)
The LITTLE things campaign is a way to change the world by doing little things that help others. Whether it's showing kindness or making an act of help, these little things can and WILL change the world.
We have to start somewhere. If I start with myself and everyday I challenge myself to do something good for someone else, even if it is in a very small way then I am pushing myself to make a change in myself and those around me.
You can just start out slow, like maybe you can be extra kind when you are driving, or maybe you see a piece of trash on the ground and you pick it up and throw it away in a receptacle. Just start there! If you need ideas email me, if you are doing it, let me know and anonymously I will post the little thing you did. Encourage others to do be a part of this and let's see how far it can go.
Thanks for being a part of changing the world:)
